Kindergarten through third grade.
Get Real About Tobacco uses research-based curriculum which follows recommendations
made by the Center For Disease Control for age-specific school health programs
to prevent tobacco use.
Module 1:
- Through visual aids of actual tobacco products,
reading, and interactive activities the children will learn the
negative and dangerous effects tobacco has on their body.
Module 2:
- Allows children to see the tricks tobacco companies
use in their advertising. Interactive activities and drawing
will be incorporated so children will practice how to resist
pro-tobacco messages.
Module 3:
- Children will be able to identify troublesome
situations and use self-control to stay out of trouble. They
are taught to use refusal skills such as:
1. Say no
2. Walk away.
3. Tell a grown up.
