It’s Never too Early to Teach Tobacco
Prevention to Children
Covering children ages kindergarten through sixth grade, The Breathing
Association’s tobacco prevention programs use the most effective
means to present and reinforce the dangers of tobacco to children
at different ages.
Children learn about their bodies reaction to tobacco, are taught
to be suspicious of cigarette advertising and, how to cope with
peer influence to smoke.
The Breathing Association smoking prevention programs, Get Real
About Tobacco, and Do It Yourself, Making Healthy Choices, are
designed to engage children from their early learning years and
teach the message of the long-term dangers of tobacco use.
Both programs are structured in three, one-hour modules, but can
be modified to fit other time segments.
Supported by grants from the United
Way, The Breathing Association’s smoking prevention programs
are available free for presentation at schools, after school programs
and summer camps.
